Welcome to the Rivanna Master Naturalist Chapter!

Welcome to the Rivanna Chapter of the Virginia Master Naturalists!

We are based near Charlottesville but active in Albemarle, Fluvanna, Louisa and Nelson counties in central Virginia, and just one of 30 Virginian chapters. The VMN is a statewide volunteer program that trains and organizes people to participate as volunteers in education, citizen science, and stewardship projects that benefit the natural environment. Certified members also benefit from a lively online network that constantly introduces new projects, local lectures and online opportunities for advanced training.

The Rivanna Chapter includes members of all ages, interests and backgrounds who are united by a desire to teach, gather data, and participate in service projects that protect and preserve our shared ecosystem. In one year, local nature initiatives can benefit from the generosity of 100± RMN volunteers from our area, collectively contributing upwards of 11,000 hours of volunteer work on 90± chapter-approved projects, amounting to a monetary equivalent of more than $300,000 per year.
