Virginia Master Naturalist Program Structure

Administration at the State Level

At the state level, the Virginia Master Naturalist program is organized into chapters and overseen by statewide committees. A Program Coordinator (see sidebar) oversees the day-to-day operations of the program and is the primary contact for the chapters. Learn more about the program's structure statewide.

Administration at the Local Level

Board of Directors
At the local level, the Rivanna chapter of the Virginia Master Naturalist is managed by a 13-member volunteer Board of Directors comprised of:

The RMN Board of Directors meets the second Friday of each month to further develop the charter and establish policies and programs to further the VMN mission. The Board has developed an administrative Handbook and Bylaws.

Standing Committees
There are six standing committees and two ad hoc committees comprised of chapter members that help to organize operations for the chapter. They are:

Chapter Advisor
Each chapter has a chapter advisor who is a local representative of one of the five state agency sponsors.The Rivanna chapter advisor is Peter Warren, horticultural agent for the Virginia Cooperative Extension. Peter is an ex-officio member of the RMN Board of Directors.

Rivanna Chapter members may count up to 20 hours of administrative time annually toward the volunteer service requirement.
