Who We Are
The Rivanna Chapter of the Virginia Master Naturalists was founded in April 2006, chartered in June 2006, and organized its first training by fall of that same year.
Twenty-two of the state's first Virginia Master Naturalists graduated from that first class - three already certified.

The Rivanna Chapter organized a second training in the Winter/Spring of 2007, bringing the Rivanna membership up to 42 Master Naturalists.
By June 2007, the Rivanna chapter had:
- 40 members: 36 Master Naturalists plus 4 Master Naturalists-in-training
- 13 Certified Master Naturalists
- 602 Advanced training hours
- 1,954 volunteer hours
